Can Ethereum (ETH) Break Out Of Its Short-Term Wedge Pattern

March 5, 2025 by

  • Across Protocol boosts total funding to $51M following a substantial $41M round.
  • Across Protocol processes $19B in total volume, with $1B recorded in January 2025.
  • ERC-7683, co-authored by Across, is now adopted by over 50 blockchain protocols.

The blockchain interoperability project Across Protocol raised a $41 million token sale with its ACX tokens under the leadership of venture capital firm Paradigm. The investment will enable Across Protocol to build stronger connections between Ethereum and diverse Layer 2 networks, improving user experience across multiple blockchain platforms.

Bain Capital Crypto, Coinbase Ventures, Multicoin Capital and angel investor Sina Habinian made financial contributions during the round. Risk Labs co-founder Hart Lambur reported that funds were gathered during Q2 2024 and Q4 as per a funding process. Risk Labs manages the protocol operations of Both Across and UMA.

In addition to the deal investors will follow a vesting plan with one-year cliff unlocks extending through November 2025. The newly obtained funds will support developments related to ERC-7683 standards and help Across advance its position in Ethereum’s rollup-centric development strategy.

Support for Ethereum’s Layer-2 Ecosystem

Across Protocol aims to improve the Ethereum ecosystem by providing an intent-driven communication platform enabling seamless user interactions between blockchain networks. The protocol provides a single request mechanism for users to execute functions like token swaps, bridge funds and deposits. Across Protocol performs automatic process handling that controls asset transfer operations and smart contract execution, thereby reducing transaction speeds.

Across Protocol prioritizes rapid operational design, enabling Layer 2 to Layer 2 transfers to finish within five seconds. The efficiency across-system functions is an essential component that helps Ethereum ecosystem unification during the network’s progressive shift towards interconnected architecture. Uniswap Labs teamed up with Across Protocol to build the ERC-7683 standard that provides simple cross-chain interactions across over fifty protocols.

The platform enables users to connect to various network systems including Optimism, Base, Arbitrum, Linea, Scroll, zkSync, Polygon and multiple other ecosystems. Separate bridging is eliminated by decentralized apps (dapps) through its bridge integration.

Expansion and Growth Plans

The received funding will enable Across to expand its technological infrastructure and promote broader acceptance of its cross-chain solutions. The protocol has processed $19 billion since its inception notably it reached 1 billion in volume in January 2025 alone. The new funding allows Across to accelerate growth through product development and increased implementation of its ERC-7683 framework across different blockchains.

The Unichain public mainnet integration is part of Across’s comprehensive development to improve cross-chain transfer capabilities. By supporting a diverse range of ecosystems, Across boosts Ethereum’s multi-chain performance leading to efficient bridge solutions.

The recent funding infusion increased Across’s total fund amount to $51 million after its previous $10 million round in 2022. Additional capital acquisition strengthens Across’s position in the blockchain space while the company advances its objective to build an interoperable Ethereum ecosystem.
