Binance lists new TradFi perpetual futures contracts for seven stocks including Hut 8 and AMC

Binance Futures rolled out seven new USDT-margined perpetual contracts tied to US equities on September 18, adding names like Hut 8, AMC Entertainment, UiPath, Arista Networks, and Cypherpunk Technologies to its growing menu of stock-linked derivatives. The contracts went live in staggered intervals starting at 09:00 UTC, each offering up to 20x leverage and round-the-clock trading.

What Binance actually launched

The seven new perpetual contracts carry the tickers PATHUSDT (UiPath), AMCUSDT (AMC Entertainment), CYPHUSDT (Cypherpunk Technologies), ANETUSDT (Arista Networks), HUTUSDT (Hut 8), APLDUSDT, and AGPUUSDT. All are denominated in USDT, Tether’s dollar-pegged stablecoin, and reference the underlying equity prices of their respective companies.

These are not tokenized stocks. They are perpetual futures contracts, a derivative structure born in crypto that never expires and instead uses periodic funding rate payments to keep prices tethered to the spot market. Funding rates settle every eight hours, with caps set at +2% and -2% per interval.

The minimum notional value sits at just 5 USDT. Twenty-times leverage is the ceiling, meaning a $100 position can control $2,000 worth of exposure to, say, AMC stock. For context, most traditional brokerages cap margin at 2x for retail clients under Regulation T.

Why these companies, and why now

Several of these names sit squarely at the intersection of crypto and traditional markets. Hut 8 is a prominent Bitcoin mining operation. Cypherpunk Technologies invests in privacy and blockchain-related companies. UiPath and Arista Networks represent enterprise software automation and high-performance networking infrastructure, respectively.

This batch follows earlier launches that included perpetual contracts for MicroStrategy (MSTR) and Coinbase (COIN). Gate.io reportedly introduced similar futures products on the same day, signaling that competition among crypto exchanges to offer equity-linked derivatives is heating up.

The bigger picture for crypto-equity convergence

Traditional stock markets operate roughly 6.5 hours per day, five days per week. By wrapping equity exposure in a perpetual futures contract on a crypto platform, Binance lets traders react to earnings reports, geopolitical events, and after-hours news in real time, not the next morning at 9:30 AM Eastern.

The SEC and CFTC have historically taken a dim view of offshore platforms offering leveraged exposure to US equities to American users. Binance’s terms of service restrict US-based traders from accessing these products.
