Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has gotten the ADA community excited with a recent announcement about Hydra. He teased his followers about the coming of the long-awaited upgrade. The reactions and responses suggest that the community is ready to welcome the scaling protocol.
Cardano Hydra Update Restores Community Confidence
Hoskinson’s X post suggested that the Hydra Head upgrade is ready for launch. He posed a rhetorical question to the community asking if they are ready for “Hydra at Rare Evo?”

The Cardano founder attached a link to a Hydra Doom website confirming that the upgrade is coming soon. For the longest time, many observers claimed that Cardano abandoned the Hydra project. However, Hoskinson debunked the claims in March, clarifying that the rumors from critics aimed at spreading FUD; Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt.
Furthermore, he assured users that the network’s scaling protocol is under development as the team is more “productive and motivated.” Noteworthy, the team has introduced several upgrades to the scaling solution in the past. One of the upgrades that took place in Q1 2024 is the upgrade to version 0.12.0. It remained well-compatible with the Cardano Node version 8.1.2 and the Mithril protocol developed by Input Output Global (IOG).
Reports has it that the Cardano team behind the Hydra Head had started working on the next iteration; version 0.15.0. Last month, major pool operator Stake With Pride announced that Cardano Hydra will enable “God mode” on the network. This news triggered an uptrend in the Cardano Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Total Value Locked (TVL) metric. It has also driven uptick in ADA whale accumulation in recent times.
Ultimately, Hoskinson’s latest X post gives the community hope that Cardano is still very interested in the Hydra project.
More Updates on the Cardano Ecosystem
Coming almost at the same time as Hoskinson’s update is another from Jaromir Tesar, a Cardano enthusiast. Tesar notified his followers and other ADA community members that the protocol is now at epoch 500. According to his explanation, each epoch last for 5 days. This means that for the last 2,500 days, Cardano has remained in constant motion. This means it has recorded no network interruptions or restarts.
Apart from coming of Hydra and the update on the epoch, other upgrades and events have happened in the Cardano ecosystem. Recently, developers launched the Cardano alpha v1 marking the first step to partner chains. The focus is to reduce the vulnerability challenge faced by some chains in preventing low-cost attacks.
