Anthropic is putting the finishing touches on a Liquid Glass redesign for the Claude iOS app, complete with overhauled navigation. The update places Claude alongside a growing roster of third-party apps racing to align with Apple’s newest design philosophy.
Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, first unveiled at WWDC on June 9, 2025, marked the most dramatic visual shift in iOS since the flat design era began over a decade ago. Instead of opaque panels and sharp edges, Liquid Glass introduces translucent, fluid materials that reflect and refract background content in real time.
What the Claude redesign looks like
The upcoming Claude update focuses on two fronts: adopting the Liquid Glass aesthetic and simplifying in-app navigation. User feedback from recent updates, which started rolling out in mid-to-late September 2026, has been largely positive, with testers noting a cleaner flow between conversations and settings.
Anthropic has also been layering in complementary features like widgets, shortcuts, and integrations that dovetail with the navigation overhaul.
Bug fixes and performance improvements are part of the package too.
The timing aligns neatly with iOS 27, which landed around September 14, 2026. That release gave users a transparency slider to control just how glassy their apps look, along with sharper app icons across the board.
The Liquid Glass land rush
Claude isn’t redesigning in a vacuum. Brave shipped its Liquid Glass update with version 1.93, arriving in August 2026. WhatsApp, Reddit, Salesforce, and photo editing tool Darkroom have all followed suit in the weeks since.
The pattern mirrors what happened after iOS 7 introduced flat design in 2013. Back then, apps that clung to skeuomorphic textures started looking dated almost overnight.
