Coinbase adds BLUE CHIP and Ritual to asset listing roadmap

1 hour ago 17

Coinbase Markets added two new tokens to its asset listing roadmap on Tuesday: BLUE CHIP (BLUECHIP), a low-market-cap meme coin tied to Base-chain culture, and Ritual (RITUAL), the native token of an AI-native Layer-1 blockchain.

Being placed on the roadmap means both tokens enter a pre-listing review covering liquidity, technical integration, and regulatory compliance. It does not mean either will actually be listed for trading. Coinbase has been clear on that distinction, noting that any trading support announcements would come separately, and only if the tokens clear the vetting process.

What these tokens actually do

BLUE CHIP is a meme token that has circulated among Base-chain communities. It carries narratives loosely connected to Coinbase’s personnel and the broader concept of tokenized equity.

Ritual is a different animal entirely. The Ritual Foundation has been building a Layer-1 blockchain designed specifically for on-chain AI inference and agent-based computing, using a system the project calls “sidecars” for native compute. The RITUAL token functions as both a governance and utility token within this ecosystem, with a total supply of 10 billion tokens.

The project’s tokenomics split 29% of supply to core contributors and 25% to ecosystem growth.

Ritual recently wrapped up its public testnet, which processed over 55 million blocks, with significant activity from autonomous agents. The project is now in mainnet preparation mode.

The roadmap process, explained

Coinbase’s asset listing roadmap is essentially a public queue. When a token lands on it, the exchange is signaling that the asset is under consideration, not that trading is imminent. The review process examines whether the token has sufficient liquidity to support exchange-level trading, whether the technical plumbing works for Coinbase’s infrastructure, and whether the asset clears regulatory hurdles.
