Coinbase has announced it will support deposits for GRVT, the native token of hybrid on-chain trading platform Grvt. The deposits will go live once the asset issuer unlocks token transfers, a step that typically precedes full trading support on the exchange.
The move places Coinbase among a growing list of exchanges positioning themselves to offer GRVT trading. KuCoin is set to begin GRVT/USDT trading on July 30, 2026, and Bybit has also signaled its involvement with the token.
What is Grvt and why does Coinbase care
Grvt operates as a non-custodial, hybrid platform that blends on-chain infrastructure with the kind of trading experience you’d expect from a centralized exchange.
The platform offers perpetual futures trading across multiple asset classes, including crypto, equities, and commodities. It also features a unified balance system for yield-bearing collateral, which means users can put their idle capital to work while maintaining margin positions.
The project has raised approximately $33.3 million in funding, including Series A rounds.
GRVT was added to Coinbase’s asset listing roadmap around July 7-8, 2026, indicating the token had already been under review for potential trading before this deposit announcement.
The token mechanics
GRVT is an ERC-20 token built on Ethereum with a fixed supply of 1 billion tokens.
The token is designed to serve as both a utility and membership instrument within the Grvt ecosystem. Holders get access to reduced trading fees and special products on the platform, creating a direct incentive loop between token ownership and platform usage.
Coinbase has not specified an exact date for when deposits will activate. That timeline depends on when Grvt’s team unlocks token transfers, a decision that rests with the project rather than the exchange.
A multi-exchange moment for GRVT
KuCoin’s planned GRVT/USDT trading launch on July 30 suggests there may be a broader unlock event approaching. Bybit has also indicated support for the token, creating a three-exchange launch scenario. For a project that raised $33.3 million, having three top-tier exchanges ready to list simultaneously is a strong signal of market interest.
