Crypto Payments Now Accepted by SeaDream Yacht Club for Luxury Cruises: Report

SeaDream Yacht Club, Norwegian based luxury cruise operator has recently opened its door to accept cryptocurrency in payment for its services. With the adoption of over 200 cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, SeaDream has become the first company to accept digital payment for voyages and full-yacht charters.

The move was unveiled during the 2025 WAGMI Blockchain Conference in Miami, where SeaDream underscored its focus on innovation to address changing client demand. SeaDream will be offering cryptocurrency payments to enable the tech-savvy travelers to have easy and convenient ways of dealing with cross border transactions.

Integrated Crypto Payments

In order to enable safe and convenient crypto transactions, SeaDream has chosen Coinbase Commerce as its payment gateway. This on-chain payment processor, created by Coinbase, allows businesses to accept digital currencies from across the world. The integration enables customers to pay using their Bitcoin wallets, thus making the whole process secure for the clients.

As part of this initiative SeaDream has also integrated digital payment option in its official website. In the next few weeks, the system will be connected to its booking platform, thus allowing customers to use digital assets for booking cruises or charter yachts. This improvement removes the complexity of currency exchanges which is an added advantage to the international clients.

SeaDream Yacht Club’s President and CEO, Andreas Brynestad, said that he is looking forward to this new venture. He pointed out that the use of digital currencies is consistent with the company’s mission to be a market leader and meet the increasing need for new payment technologies among its customers.

Crypto Adoption in Travel

Accepting digital payments is not the only innovation in the travel and hospitality industry. In the last month, Florida-based Virgin Voyages started accepting Bitcoin for cruise bookings. Also, Travala which is a blockchain travel agency signed a deal with Skyscanner, a flight metasearch engine to allow the use of digital assets for more than 2.2 million of hotels globally in a proof that digital currencies are being gaining more acceptance in the industry.
