David Raya wins Premier League Golden Glove for third straight season

David Raya has done something only three goalkeepers before him have managed in the history of the Premier League. The Arsenal number one has claimed his third consecutive Golden Glove award, racking up 19 clean sheets across 37 matches in the 2025/26 season.

The award, given annually to the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in a Premier League campaign, now places Raya alongside Pepe Reina, Joe Hart, and Ederson as the only players to win three in a row.

The numbers behind the streak

Raya’s 19 clean sheets this season represent a significant jump from his previous two Golden Glove campaigns. In 2023/24, he posted 16 clean sheets, a tally strong enough to win the award outright. The following season was tighter: he managed 13, sharing the honor with Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels.

This time around, there was no sharing. Raya finished four clean sheets clear of his nearest rival, Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, who recorded 15.

Joining an exclusive club

The list of goalkeepers who have won three consecutive Golden Gloves is absurdly short. Pepe Reina did it at Liverpool between 2005/06 and 2007/08. Joe Hart achieved the feat at Manchester City from 2010/11 to 2012/13. Ederson, also at City, managed it from 2018/19 to 2020/21.

There’s another number Raya will be well aware of. The all-time record for Golden Glove awards is four, held jointly by Petr Cech and Joe Hart. Raya is now just one win away from matching that mark. Early indications suggest he remains among the league’s leading clean-sheet keepers heading into the 2026/27 season.

How Raya became Arsenal’s wall

Raya arrived at Arsenal from Brentford, initially on loan, and quickly became the first-choice goalkeeper in Mikel Arteta’s defensive setup. His shot-stopping ability, composure with the ball at his feet, and distribution fit Arteta’s system, with Arsenal’s ability to play out from the back starting with Raya’s willingness and accuracy on the ball.
