Erling Haaland, the man who terrorizes professional defenders for a living, apparently has a second career he’d like you to know about. After scoring twice against Brazil to send Norway to their first-ever World Cup quarterfinal, the striker’s decade-old rap track has resurfaced, been officially remixed by one of Norway’s biggest DJs, and gone completely viral.
From the pitch to the charts
Back in 2016, a 16-year-old Haaland was part of a youth parody rap group called Flow Kingz. They produced a track called “Kygo Jo,” a nod to Norwegian DJ and producer Kygo.
Haaland buried two goals against Brazil on July 5, 2026, in the 80th and 90th minutes, turning a tense knockout match into a 2-0 Norwegian victory. Norway had never reached a World Cup quarterfinal before.
Kygo had publicly declared before the match that he would release an official remix of Haaland’s teenage track if the striker scored in the knockout round. Haaland didn’t just score. He scored twice. Kygo dropped the remix on July 7, 2026.
Haaland leaned into it with the confidence of someone who just eliminated Brazil from a World Cup. He jokingly referred to himself as a “professional music artist” on social media.
Norway’s fairy tale run
The next challenge is England, with the quarterfinal scheduled for July 11, 2026, at Miami Stadium.
The cultural crossover nobody expected
ESPN and FOX Sports have both covered the story extensively. The remix has performed strongly on streaming platforms since its July 7 release.
