Grove Finance just put a very large chip on the table for Centrifuge. The firm acquired 37.8 million CFG tokens to become a strategic stakeholder in the tokenized asset platform’s ecosystem, building on a relationship that already involves more than $1.27B deployed across Centrifuge’s infrastructure.
What Grove is actually buying into
Grove Finance operates within the Sky ecosystem, formerly known as Maker, and has been steadily expanding its footprint in real-world asset tokenization. Centrifuge provides the rails for that expansion: an on-chain platform purpose-built for institutional-grade tokenized assets like treasuries, credit, and structured products.
The $1.27B already flowing through Centrifuge’s systems represents actual capital deployed into tokenized asset pools, making this one of the larger live integrations in the RWA space.
Centrifuge now lists Grove alongside names like BlackRock and Apollo as ecosystem partners.
The runway that got them here
In July 2025, Grove announced a $250M target allocation for real-world assets on Avalanche, part of a broader strategy to diversify its capital deployment across multiple chains.
Then in May 2026, the Basin liquidity facility launched, a mechanism designed to support up to $1B in daily redemptions for Grove. For institutional players who remember the redemption freezes of traditional finance and the DeFi liquidity crises of 2022, that kind of infrastructure isn’t optional.
Why this matters beyond two protocols
Centrifuge operates in a space alongside platforms like Ondo Finance, Maple, and Securitize, all vying to become the default infrastructure layer for tokenized real-world assets. Strategic investments like this one can shift the competitive balance by creating switching costs. Once a major allocator has governance stakes, operational integrations, and custom liquidity facilities built on a specific protocol, moving to a competitor becomes significantly more expensive.
