HyperLabs redeems 433K HYPE after 7-day unstaking period

HyperLabs completed the redemption of 433,000 HYPE tokens around September 6-7, valued at approximately $36-38 million. The unlock came after a standard 7-day unstaking period that kicked off around August 30, and it fits into a monthly rhythm the team has established for managing the staking rewards generated by its massive token position.

The math behind the monthly moves

HyperLabs holds approximately 241 million HYPE tokens, a position that generates daily staking rewards of around 14,400 HYPE. At current prices, that daily yield translates to roughly $1.26 million.

Over the course of a month, those rewards stack up to well over 400,000 HYPE. The team’s pattern is to unstake a chunk that roughly matches the accumulated staking income, then move those tokens off their balance sheet.

Previous redemptions, such as those observed around August 7 and 8, followed an identical playbook. Tokens were routed through Flowdesk, a market maker, and directed toward centralized exchanges including OKX and Bybit. In some instances, portions of the HYPE were converted to USDC stablecoins.

What the routing tells us

Routing through OKX and Bybit, two of the largest centralized exchanges by trading volume, ensures that the sell-side liquidity is deep enough to absorb six and seven-figure token flows without significant slippage.

Hyperliquid’s buyback-and-burn mechanism adds another stabilizing layer. Trading fees generated across the platform fund regular token buybacks, which remove HYPE from circulation. Core contributor allocations are also subject to vesting schedules that extend into 2027, which provides additional predictability around when and how tokens enter the broader market.

HYPE functions as the native token for staking, transaction fees, and governance within the Hyperliquid ecosystem.
