Compare recorded Ethereum execution-fee references in gwei. The base-fee history and reference tiers come from a saved Ethereum JSON-RPC fee-history response.

Gas quantity and fee per gas

Gas measures the execution work a transaction uses. Gwei is a denomination of ETH used to quote the fee for each unit of gas. The total execution cost in ETH equals gas used multiplied by the effective fee in gwei, divided by one billion.

For example, 21,000 gas used at an effective 10 gwei costs 0.00021 ETH. A contract interaction can use substantially more gas than a simple transfer. This example excludes any separate service charge or other-chain fee and does not substitute for simulating the transaction in your wallet.

Use the references carefully

The base fee and priority-fee samples help form low, standard and high reference tiers. These are locally computed references using recent fee history; they do not guarantee inclusion. A transaction's maximum fee setting is also different from the effective price eventually paid.

The short history runs from older available samples to the next-block base-fee reference. We use sample positions when exact sample times were not saved. Read the last updated time and the block observation time separately. The tracker concerns Ethereum execution gas; it is not a complete quote for rollup data fees, swaps, bridge charges or a particular exchange withdrawal.

Limits of these figures

  • Recorded fee references can lag current network conditions.
  • A gas limit is a cap, while gas used determines execution cost; the tracker does not simulate a specific call.
