Kamino appoints Yieldstreet co-founder Michael Weisz as CEO

Kamino, the lending and liquidity protocol built on Solana, has named Michael Weisz as its new CEO. Weisz co-founded Yieldstreet, an alternative investment platform that deployed over $6 billion across various asset classes and raised more than $250 million in venture and private equity funding.

The appointment, effective September 15, is designed to accelerate Kamino’s institutional growth and its expansion into the US market.

From alternative investments to on-chain lending

Weisz spent over two decades in fintech before stepping into the Kamino role. At Yieldstreet, he built a platform that gave retail and institutional investors access to asset classes like real estate, marine finance, and art lending, all traditionally locked behind high minimums and private bank relationships.

The protocol operates as a peer-to-pool lending market on Solana with automated liquidity vaults, supporting leveraged strategies and, increasingly, real-world asset integrations.

Kamino’s numbers tell the story

The protocol generated $1.84 million in revenue during Q2 2026. Deposits hit $2.29 billion by the end of the quarter, driven by rapid scaling in several newer markets. The Ethena market alone secured over $500 million in deposits. Kamino’s PRIME segment, which is backed by home equity loans, surpassed $600 million in market size.

Kamino has maintained zero bad debt since inception.

Recent launches include isolated markets, fixed-rate products, and institutional yield vaults. In August 2026, Kamino rolled out a Commodity Yield vault with $25 million in initial USDC capacity, designed to finance real-world commodity trade.
