Lille sets exit price for goalkeeper Guillaume Restes at €20M

1 hour ago 11

Guillaume Restes, one of the most promising young goalkeepers in French football, has been tagged with an exit price in the range of €18-20 million. Multiple clubs across Europe are circling.

Restes, born on March 11, 2005, is still just 21 years old.

A goalkeeper market in motion

The valuation lines up with Transfermarkt’s own estimate of €18 million as of June 1, 2026. The ceiling of €20 million suggests there’s some negotiating room baked in, but not much.

Restes is currently under contract with Toulouse FC through June 30, 2028.

Lille OSC has emerged as a particularly interested party. The Ligue 1 club is reportedly exploring goalkeeper options as part of contingency planning should their current first-choice keeper, Lucas Chevalier, leave the club. Restes is one of several names on their shortlist, alongside Robin Roefs and Jeffrey De Lange.

Beyond France, the interest extends to some of Europe’s heavyweights. Bayern Munich has shown what’s described as long-term interest in Restes, though no immediate transfer appears to be on the table. Newcastle United was also linked to the goalkeeper at one point, but the English club denied any interest.

Rising through the ranks at Toulouse

Restes didn’t arrive at Toulouse as a marquee signing. He came up through the club’s academy system and gradually established himself as the reliable starter between the posts.

With two years left on his contract, the club isn’t under immediate pressure to sell, but the €18-20 million price range suggests they’ve identified a number that would make them comfortable parting ways.

What this means for interested clubs

For Lille specifically, the move would make strategic sense on multiple levels. Signing a young, French goalkeeper who already knows Ligue 1 would minimize the adjustment period. And if Chevalier’s departure brings in a significant transfer fee, reinvesting a portion of that into Restes would represent a logical use of funds.

No confirmed reports indicate that Lille has set an exit price for Restes, suggesting they remain in the early stages of assessing their options.
