Manchester City will remain active in transfer market, says Maresca

Enzo Maresca wants to make one thing clear: Manchester City isn’t done shopping. The new head coach, who stepped into the role vacated by Pep Guardiola in July 2026, told reporters he anticipates one or two more signings before the summer transfer window slams shut on September 1.

A summer of big moves already in the books

The marquee deal so far has been Elliot Anderson, who arrived for £116 million. Anderson hasn’t been the only addition. Gerónimo Rulli, Jeremy Monga, and Pierce Charles have all joined the squad.

On the retention front, City has locked down several core players with contract extensions. Jérémy Doku, Phil Foden, and Joško Gvardiol have all committed their futures to the club.

The Rodri question

Maresca confirmed he recently saw Rodri at the club’s facilities. The coach chose not to shut the door definitively on any departures, acknowledging that the transfer market remains fluid until the window closes at 23:00 UK time on September 1.

Maresca indicated he doesn’t expect a frantic final day of the window, despite the ongoing activity. He emphasized an openness to both buying and selling players to strengthen the squad.
