Meta launches One subscription bundles for social media and AI

Meta just rolled out its most ambitious paid offering yet. Starting May 27, the company is globally launching Meta One, a tiered subscription system that bundles features across Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and its AI tools into a single paid umbrella.

The cheapest options, Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus, run $3.99 per month each, while WhatsApp Plus comes in at $2.99. For users who want more from Meta’s AI capabilities, the company is testing Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month in select markets. Meta says its core apps and Meta AI will remain free.

What you actually get

The consumer-tier Plus subscriptions include customization options, enhanced storytelling tools, exclusive stickers, and ringtones.

The AI-focused tiers offer expanded image and video generation, deeper reasoning capabilities, and higher usage limits for Meta AI. These are being tested starting in June 2026 in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia.

For creators and businesses, there are separate plans being tested in markets like Saudi Arabia and Thailand. Meta One Essential costs $14.99 per month, while Meta One Advanced runs $49.99 per month. These plans are separate from Meta Verified, the existing identity-verification subscription the company already sells.

Meta’s product head Naomi Gleit indicated that Meta One will eventually unify all of the company’s subscription offerings across its platforms. The company also plans to expand the bundles to include its Edits video tool, AI glasses, and other products over time.

The bigger play: diversifying beyond ads

Meta has spent the last several years pouring capital into AI infrastructure. This subscription push is the clearest signal yet that the company wants a return on those investments that doesn’t depend entirely on advertisers.

The tiered structure, from casual users at $3.99 to businesses at $49.99, creates multiple on-ramps across different user segments.

What this means for the AI subscription race

Meta is taking a different approach from standalone AI competitors by wrapping AI capabilities into a broader social media subscription, making AI a feature rather than the whole product.

At $19.99 per month for Meta One Premium, the company is pricing its top AI tier at roughly the same level as ChatGPT Plus.
