OpenAI: the CEO reveals that the new GPT-5 will be arriving in a few months

Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has just announced two new models: GPT-4.5, which will be launched in a few weeks, and the much-anticipated GPT-5, which will take a few more months.

In a post on X, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, unveiled the new roadmap for the launch of the new ChatGPT models: GPT-4.5 and GPT-5. 

Specifically, the CEO of the renowned Artificial Intelligence company also wanted to describe the trends that the upcoming models will have, revealing the following: 

“Soon we will distribute GPT-4.5, the model we have internally called Orion, as the last model not based on the chain of thought. After that, one of our main goals is to unify the models of the O series and the models of the GPT series, creating systems that can use all our tools, know when to think long or not, and, in general, be useful for a very wide range of tasks. Both in ChatGPT and in our API, we will release GPT-5 as a system that integrates many of our technologies, including o3. We will no longer distribute o3 as a standalone model.”

In practice, the GPT-4.5 will be the last of its kind, while the GPT-5 will be more complete, also integrating the o3 technology which will no longer be distributed independently. 

Immediately after, in response to a user’s request, Altman revealed that the waiting times for GPT-4.5 will be weeks, while for GPT-5. it will be months. 

Not only that, Altman adds that Plus subscribers will be able to run GPT-5 at a higher level of intelligence and Pro subscribers will be able to run GPT-5 at an even higher level of intelligence. 

These AI models will include voice, canvas, search, deep search, and more.

While Altman clarifies how OpenAI will act with its new models yet to be launched to the public, recently there has been talk about the new version of the agent ChaGPT. 

In practice, OpenAI has introduced more advanced features, which allow for expanding the application possibilities of Artificial Intelligence. 

In fact, the new version of the ChatGPT agent has been designed to be more versatile and dynamic compared to its previous versions. 

Basically, there is the desire to create an agent that becomes a multifunctional tool, capable of interacting with complex data, performing practical tasks, and adapting to increasingly specific needs. Not only that, the possibility of customizing one’s own agent makes it more adaptable with its responses based on the user’s needs. 

For this reason, OpenAI has introduced a module for advanced research (deep research), which allows ChatGPT to process large amounts of data and extract meaningful insights. In this way, the agent can provide more data, becoming increasingly useful in sectors such as scientific research. 

The success and the suspicions about DeepSeek 

Recently, there has been talk about the remarkable success of the Chinese AI startup DeepSeek, but also about some concerns raised by OpenAI and Microsoft.

In fact, it seems that the two US giants believe that the eastern company has taken advantage of illicit benefits, using unauthorized data generated by OpenAI technology. 

Specifically, OpenAI and Microsoft have initiated an investigation to verify if individuals linked to DeepSeek have extracted sensitive information through Altman’s company API.
