OpenSea Adds Solana NFT Trading Four Years After Initial Beta

OpenSea announced on August 31 that users can now discover, buy and sell Solana NFTs alongside Solana tokens on its marketplace, marking the platform’s return to Solana NFT trading roughly four years after its initial beta. The company’s announcement says the support is part of the latest version of the marketplace.

OpenSea had already moved back onto the network through the staged OS2 rollout, which restored fungible-token trading before NFT support; its first Solana NFT test was in 2022.

OpenSea restores Solana NFT buying and selling

OpenSea said users can now discover, buy and sell Solana-based NFTs through its marketplace. The platform highlighted Claynosaurz, Mad Lads, Collector Crypt and Phygitals among the collections available at launch.

Solana joins a marketplace that OpenSea said now spans more than 25 blockchains. That framing presents the launch as part of a multichain product rather than a separate Solana-only exchange, with Solana NFTs and tokens both accessible on the same platform.

The announcement does not provide marketplace-volume targets, collection-count totals or details on how trading activity will be divided between OpenSea and established Solana-native venues. Its immediate significance is the restoration of a transaction function: collectors can again trade Solana NFTs on OpenSea after the network had returned to OS2 first for fungible tokens.

The 2022 Solana beta struggled against Magic Eden and Tensor

OpenSea’s earlier Solana NFT beta went live on April 6, 2022. It allowed users to buy, sell and transfer Solana NFTs, according to contemporaneous reporting by The Block.

That beta arrived during an active period for the chain’s NFT market. Solana generated $173 million in NFT trading volume in March 2022, The Block reported at the time. The figure provides the market backdrop for OpenSea’s original entry, but it should not be read as a measure of OpenSea’s own Solana trading volume.

The initial beta covered 165 collections. It gained limited traction, however, as Magic Eden and Tensor dominated Solana NFT activity, The Block reported on the latest launch.

The competitive history makes the new integration more than a simple expansion announcement: OpenSea is re-entering a market where specialised venues had already established themselves, using its broader cross-chain marketplace as the setting for the renewed offering.

OS2 brought Solana back through token trading in 2025

The NFT launch completes the sequence OpenSea outlined for OS2. The company reintroduced Solana in April 2025 for fungible-token trading first and said NFT support would follow, according to its OS2 introduction.

In practical terms, the August rollout extends Solana’s presence on OpenSea from tokens to the NFT market. It also reconnects the company with a category it had supported during the 2022 beta, though the present release is being delivered through the OS2 platform rather than as a continuation of that original launch.

OpenSea’s selected launch collections include established names such as Mad Lads alongside Claynosaurz, Collector Crypt and Phygitals. Whether the renewed support gains more traction than the 165-collection beta will depend on activity after launch; OpenSea’s announcement sets out the available functionality but does not make a forecast for Solana NFT trading on the platform.
