Opera and Browser Operator: the native AI agent that performs processes on behalf of users
Opera has announced its new “Browser Operator”, a native AI agent designed to perform tasks for users.
“We present to you the Opera Browser Operator! Imagine a browser capable of doing things on your behalf. Completing tasks that you might find too complex or tedious. Today we preview a browser AI agent that does things for you. Let’s dig deeper!”
In practice, the new Browser Operator is an extension of the browser itself that uses artificial intelligence locally. In this way, the AI agent performs tasks on behalf of users directly within the Opera browser, without users having to send their sensitive data to third parties.
Users can delegate certain processes such as purchasing products, filling out online forms, and collecting web content to Opera’s new AI agent.
Browser Operator leverages natural language processing thanks to Opera’s AI Composer Engine, thus interpreting the instructions written by users and then executing them.
Opera and the native AI agent: users are free to regain control of browsing
Opera describes its new native AI agent as a meeting point between artificial intelligence and browsing. Yet, users remain free to regain control of browsing at any time.
In practice, users can access the Browser Operator by accessing it from the Opera sidebar. From here, users can then give their instructions, that is, what they want the AI agent to do on their behalf.
By clicking send, then, Browser Operator and the AI will start executing the task. The user will be able to view all the various steps that the AI agent performs on the interface.
While Browser Operator runs, the user can intervene or take control of the process, or it may happen that the AI agent itself pauses, waiting for a requested intervention.
From navigation to the crypto and cybersecurity world
Opera has involved AI in the world of browsing, creating its native and local AI agent Browser Operator.
Even in the crypto world, some companies have wanted to launch their own AI agents. In mid-February, Token Metrics, the crypto investment platform, launched TMAI.
Here, the function of the AI agent is to be a true virtual assistant that provides analysis and updates on the crypto market, offering constant automated support, based on artificial intelligence.
In January, however, H4ck, an AI agent designed to assist ethical hackers, the famous white-hat hackers, emerged to protect IT systems, dApps, and blockchain-based platforms.
