Paxos’ USDG stablecoin hits $21.8B on Uniswap in September

A stablecoin that barely existed a year ago just posted a month of trading volume that would make most mid-cap tokens jealous. Paxos’ USDG, also known as Global Dollar, racked up $21.8 billion in trading volume on Uniswap during September, representing 98% of its total decentralized exchange activity.

To put that in perspective, USDG’s circulating supply sits at roughly $3.2 billion. That means the stablecoin turned over nearly seven times its entire supply on a single DEX in a single month.

The StablePair Hook effect

The volume explosion wasn’t random. It traces directly to Uniswap’s launch of its StablePair Hook on September 10, a new feature built on Uniswap v4 that introduced dynamic fee structures for stablecoin trading pairs like USDC/USDG on Ethereum.

USDG currently holds over $600 million in total value locked across DEX pools, a substantial liquidity base that helps explain how the token could absorb that level of trading activity without significant price deviation from its dollar peg.

From zero to $3.2 billion in under a year

Paxos Digital Singapore launched USDG in November 2024, backed 1:1 by liquid US dollar assets and regulated by Singapore’s Monetary Authority. Paxos built the Global Dollar Network, a consortium of partners that share in the economics generated by USDG’s reserve assets. By mid-2026, that network had expanded to over 150 partners, including heavyweights like Robinhood and Kraken.

USDG is now live across multiple networks including Ethereum, Solana, Robinhood Chain, X Layer, and most recently Mantle, where native issuance was introduced to capture additional DeFi trading activity.

What the numbers mean for the broader stablecoin market

Uniswap’s total monthly DEX activity has surpassed $70 billion, meaning USDG pairs accounted for roughly 31% of the platform’s entire volume in September.

Uniswap v4’s hook system, which lets developers customize pool behavior with modular smart contract add-ons, is turning into a competitive advantage for stablecoins that embrace it early. USDG’s volume surge suggests that technical integration with cutting-edge DeFi infrastructure can matter as much as raw market cap.

No significant expert evaluations or market valuation discrepancies were reported during September’s volume spike, indicating stable market performance for USDG.
