The memecoin launchpad wars have a new (old) leader. Pump.fun has retaken the top position in 24-hour protocol revenue, surpassing Pons, the newer competitor that had briefly and dramatically seized that crown earlier this year.
As of early September 2026, Pump.fun posted roughly $1.23 million in fees within a single 24-hour window, enough to edge out a platform that, just weeks prior, had been lapping it on daily numbers.
How Pons got this far, this fast
Pons launched on July 13, 2026, which means it took less than two months to become a credible threat to a platform that had a two-and-a-half-year head start.
The secret ingredient: Robinhood Chain. Pons operates on Robinhood’s layer-2 network, which keeps gas costs close to negligible for users executing trades.
The creator incentive structure amplified that dynamic further. Pons offered token creators 70% of a 1% trading fee on every transaction involving their token. At its peak, Pons was clocking daily fee figures that sometimes exceeded $4 million, comfortably outpacing Pump.fun during that stretch.
Why Pump.fun is still standing
Pump.fun has one thing Pons cannot manufacture quickly: history. Since its launch in January 2024, the platform has accumulated over $1.2 billion in cumulative revenue.
The platform’s core mechanics remain intact. Pump.fun still uses a bonding-curve model for token launches, meaning token prices rise along a predetermined mathematical curve as more people buy in. When a token graduates from that curve and hits a certain market cap threshold, liquidity moves to PumpSwap, the platform’s integrated decentralized exchange.
Pump.fun also runs a buyback-and-burn program for its PUMP token, using a portion of protocol revenue to purchase tokens from the open market and remove them from circulation.
