Robinhood Chain sees nasty retrace with only 5 tokens above $10M market cap

2 hours ago 13

Robinhood Chain launched a month ago with a pitch that sounded almost too clean for crypto: tokenized versions of real stocks, running on a proper Layer-2 network, backed by one of the most recognizable names in retail trading. What actually happened was a memecoin casino opened its doors, a handful of tokens briefly mooned, and now the hangover has arrived.

Only five tokens on Robinhood Chain currently maintain a market capitalization above $10 million. For a chain that once saw its leading memecoin flirt with a $400 million valuation, that’s a steep and rapid cooldown.

From stock tokens to CASHCAT and back

Robinhood Chain went live on July 1, 2026, as an Ethereum Layer-2 built on Arbitrum Orbit technology. The stated purpose was facilitating Stock Tokens, ERC-20 assets issued by Robinhood Assets that provide economic exposure to equities like Nvidia, Apple, and Google.

The actual purpose, at least in practice, turned out to be memecoin speculation. Within weeks of launch, memecoins dominated trading activity, user engagement, and address growth on the chain. The flagship degen play was CASHCAT, which surged to a market cap somewhere between $100 million and $400 million depending on which hour you checked.

CASHCAT has since stabilized around $135 million. The cumulative market cap for all memecoins on Robinhood Chain sits at approximately $358 million.

The numbers behind the retrace

Total value locked on Robinhood Chain reached around $312 million. Daily decentralized exchange volumes peaked above $600 million, powered by integrations with Uniswap and Chainlink oracle support.

Tokenized stock volumes also showed real momentum, growing to an estimated $70 million by late July. That represents roughly fivefold growth in under two weeks.

Memecoins still command roughly five times the market cap of tokenized stocks on the platform.

Why this matters beyond the memes

Robinhood has over 20 million funded accounts. The early traction in memecoins brought users, liquidity, and attention to the chain. New addresses spiked during the memecoin frenzy, and DEX volumes hit levels that many established chains would envy.

A TVL of $312 million and growing tokenized stock volumes suggest there’s a foundation worth building on. But the retrace to just five tokens above $10 million in market cap signals that the broader ecosystem hasn’t yet developed the depth needed to sustain casual interest.

For Robinhood Chain to justify its existence beyond being another Arbitrum Orbit deployment, the ratio of RWA activity to memecoin speculation needs to flip. The fivefold growth in tokenized stock volumes is encouraging, but $70 million against a $358 million memecoin market cap means the chain’s identity remains very much in flux.
