Shankland levels aggregate for Rangers against Jagiellonia in Europa League thriller

Lawrence Shankland found the net at Ibrox on August 13 to pull Rangers level at 2-2 on aggregate against Polish side Jagiellonia Białystok, keeping the Scottish club’s Europa League hopes alive in the third qualifying round.

The goal came after Rangers traveled to Poland for the first leg on August 6 and returned with a 2-1 deficit.

A first leg Rangers would rather forget

The opening match in Białystok saw Rangers concede two own goals, with Emmanuel Fernandez and Guilherme Montoia both turning the ball into their own net. Kajetan Szmyt got on the scoresheet for the Polish hosts.

Rangers did manage to grab an away goal, pulling one back to make it 2-1. That single strike kept the tie within reach heading back to Glasgow.

Shankland had been used as a substitute in that first leg, watching from the bench as his teammates created their own problems.

The Scottish striker, who had been highlighted in team news ahead of the second leg, made his mark by finding the back of the net and dragging the aggregate score to 2-2.
