  • PostFinance offers Ethereum staking from 0.1 ETH with rewards after 12 weeks.
  • Swiss state-owned PostFinance enables Ethereum staking for 2.7 million users.
  • Ethereum staking by PostFinance integrates fully with existing customer services.

Switzerland’s State Bank, PostFinance has ventured further into the digital currency market by launching an Ethereum(ETH) staking service for its clients. Launched on January 16, the program enables customers to put down as low as 0.1 ETH or about $331, for a 12-week term. Through this process, customers will be able to receive staking rewards for participating in the security of Ethereum’s blockchain.

PostFinance’s platform has integrated its staking service in a way that allows users to see their staking rewards alongside other assets in their portfolio.  This is a native stake as this initiative processes directly on the Ethereum blockchain, securing maximum transparency and security. In addition to these initial steps, PostFinance has enhanced its ability to provide safe and reliable crypto services after working with Sygnum Bank, a FINMA-regulated group of digital asset banks.

Sygnum is proud to empower @PostFinance to be the first systemically important Swiss bank to offer #staking to their customers. Simon Kühne, Sygnum Growth Lead, B2B Platform, says:

Accessible Staking with Future Expansion Plans

PostFinance’s service makes Ethereum staking more accessible because users can start with as little as 0.1 ETH. Usually, staking is done with at least 32 ETH, equivalent to more than $100,000, making it convenient for small traders.

However, the bank aims to expand the service to other cryptocurrencies, but it does not provide precise information on which specific cryptocurrencies or a time frame for the expansion. Consequently PostFinance wants to open up staking and provide customers with safe and clear information about cryptocurrency investments.

Switzerland’s Role in Advancing Blockchain Innovation

PostFinance’s Ethereum staking service exemplifies how Switzerland embraces cryptocurrency and blockchain. The country has continued to embrace the concept of digital finance with other advancements, such as planning to hold a national referendum that would allow Bitcoin to be included in the Swiss National Bank and others carrying out studies on how Bitcoin mining affects energy usage.

This launch also comes when more conventional financial institutions are embracing crypto services. Anchorage Digital launched liquid Ethereum staking as the first US federally chartered bank in December 2024, highlighting the growing institutional demand for blockchain solutions.

With over 33 million ETH locked on the Beacon Chain, PostFinance’s venture into this sector points to the bank’s effort to integrate traditional finance with decentralized systems. The further commitment to digital asset services strengthens its role as a major player in the Swiss financial and blockchain industry.
