The DEX aggregator 1inch has implemented the integration of ZKsync, a layer-2 solution for Ethereum, in order to speed up and make cross-chain transactions more economical.
This innovation could transform DeFi, improving efficiency and accessibility for users. In this article, we see all the details.
The DEX aggregator 1inch adopts ZKsync layer-2 technology to improve scalability and reduce fees
The ecosystem of decentralized finance (DeFi) continues to evolve rapidly, with innovations aimed at improving scalability and convenience of on-chain transactions.
One of the latest developments concerns 1inch, the well-known aggregator of decentralized exchanges (DEX), which has recently announced the integration with ZKsync, a layer-2 scalability solution based on zero-knowledge technology.
Thanks to this integration, 1inch users will be able to benefit from faster and more cost-effective cross-chain swaps.
The zero-knowledge technology of ZKsync allows for a significant reduction in gas fees compared to the main Ethereum network, without compromising the security of the blockchain infrastructure.
This improvement aligns with 1inch’s goal of providing a more seamless and convenient trading experience for DeFi users.
The announcement, released via press release, highlighted that this new feature is powered by “Fusion+” technology, launched in beta version last September.
Since its introduction, this solution has generated trading volumes worth millions of dollars, demonstrating its efficacy in optimizing cross-chain transactions.
One of the most innovative aspects of the integration concerns the cross-chain swap model proposed by 1inch.
Instead of relying on traditional bridges, the system employs a mechanism based on “resolver,” which are network actors that cover the network fees on behalf of the users.
To obtain resolver status, participants must stake 1INCH tokens, creating a competitive ecosystem where users get the best exchange rates.
According to Sergej Kunz, co-founder of 1inch, this new methodology will ensure a significant increase in trading volumes and in the adoption of the platform:
“Reduced commissions, shorter finalization times, and greater security will attract not only experienced DeFi users but also new investors, expanding liquidity in the ecosystem.”
The advantages of ZKsync technology
ZKsync stands out from other layer-2 solutions for its ability to handle a high number of transactions while maintaining a high security standard.
The zero-knowledge technology allows to reduce the load on the main network of Ethereum, offering a scalable alternative for DeFi users.
According to the development roadmap, ZKsync aims to reach a processing capacity of up to 10,000 transactions per second.
Furthermore, the team behind the technology is exploring new strategies to completely eliminate transaction fees in the future, making the blockchain even more accessible.
In any case, the adoption of ZKsync is not limited to DeFi. The traditional banking sector has also started to show interest in this technology.
Recently, the Swiss bank UBS announced that it is testing ZKsync for one of its gold-backed financial products.
This signal highlights the growing recognition of layer-2 solutions as fundamental tools for improving the efficiency and security of financial operations.
