Tottenham Hotspur has reached an agreement to bring in veteran goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on a free transfer, adding experienced Premier League depth to their squad ahead of the new season.
What we know about the deal
Dubravka arrives at Spurs as a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Burnley in June 2026. He had joined Burnley permanently in August 2025 after departing Newcastle United, where he had been a familiar face between the posts for several seasons.
The signing represents Tottenham’s third free-agent pickup this summer. Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi have already arrived through the same route.
Dubravka is widely expected to serve as backup to Antonin Kinsky, Tottenham’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Dubravka’s Premier League journey includes his longest and most impactful tenure at Newcastle United, a loan spell at Manchester United in 2022, and most recently a stint at Burnley.
What this means for Tottenham’s squad
Robertson brings Premier League pedigree at full-back. Senesi adds defensive options. Now Dubravka provides goalkeeping cover.
The financial aspect is worth noting. Free transfers still involve wages, signing bonuses, and agent fees. But compared to the transfer market, where even modest goalkeepers command multi-million-pound fees, picking up an experienced international on a free is a cost-efficient transaction.
