Upbit, the dominant crypto exchange in South Korea, moved fast on September 8, 2026, adding three new tokens to its platform in a single day: Cluster Protocol’s CP, the Hemi network’s HEMI, and meme token USELESS.
CP trading kicked off first, going live around 8:30 AM KST with three pairs: CP/KRW, CP/BTC, and CP/USDT. Bithumb, South Korea’s second-largest exchange, added its own CP/KRW support later the same day. HEMI and USELESS followed in the evening, with BTC and USDT pairs for both going live at 9:30 PM KST.
What each token actually does
Cluster Protocol sits squarely in the AI-infrastructure corner of crypto. Its CP token has a fixed maximum supply of 5 billion, with roughly 1.37 billion tokens, about 27.38% of the total, in circulation at launch. The token is designed to settle payments for AI inference calls and GPU compute jobs, functioning as the billing layer for a decentralized AI compute network.
HEMI is the native token of the Hemi network, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 that launched its mainnet in March 2025. With a maximum supply of 10 billion tokens, HEMI handles transaction fees and governance on the network. Hemi was co-founded by notable figures including former Bitcoin Core developer Jeff Garzik, and is designed to merge the programmability of Ethereum with Bitcoin’s security through its Proof-of-Proof consensus mechanism.
USELESS is a Solana-based meme token that launched with no presale and no team allocation, following a fair-launch model where early buyers have no structural advantage over anyone else.
Why the Korean market listing matters
CP/KRW being available from the morning session is commercially significant because KRW pairs allow Korean retail investors to buy directly with local currency rather than routing through Bitcoin or stablecoins first. Bithumb mirroring the listing on the same day reflects parallel interest from both major Korean venues specifically in Cluster Protocol.
HEMI and USELESS landing with BTC and USDT pairs only, without a KRW pair, puts them in a slightly different tier, requiring an extra conversion step for pure-fiat Korean buyers.
