VCT EMEA announces Turkish derby ahead of Play-ins

1 hour ago 8

The Valorant Champions Tour EMEA region just dropped what might be the spiciest matchup announcement of the competitive season: a Turkish derby that will help determine which teams punch their tickets to the VCT EMEA Play-ins.

The official @vct_emea account made the announcement on June 30, inviting fans to tune in and watch some of Turkey’s most prominent Valorant organizations go head-to-head in a qualification-deciding clash.

What’s at stake in the Turkish derby

The upcoming derby isn’t just about bragging rights. The results will directly impact which teams advance toward the VCT EMEA Stage 2 Play-ins, scheduled to run from August 5-16, 2026.

That Play-in stage is getting a format overhaul this year. It will feature a 12-team double-elimination bracket, pulling in top squads from both the International League and the strongest regional Challengers teams.

Turkey’s growing footprint in Valorant esports

BBL Esports, FUT Esports, and Eternal Fire each bring distinct fanbases and playstyles to the table. BBL has established itself as a consistent contender, notably securing victories during matches in August 2025, while the 2026 Stage 1 featured several heated contests between these Turkish powerhouses. FUT Esports has built a reputation for aggressive, high-tempo gameplay. Eternal Fire, perhaps the most internationally recognized of the three, carries the weight of being Turkey’s most prominent esports brand across multiple titles.
