Former presidential candidate and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is no longer working alongside Tesla founder and billionaire Elon Musk at the helm of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and is reported to be considering running for Ohio governor.
A Jan. 20 report from Politico said that Musk made it known that he wanted Ramaswamy out of DOGE. Some of Donald Trump’s political advisers also reportedly said that Ramaswamy “burned through” bridges and finally got to Musk. “Everyone wants him out of Mar-a-Lago, out of D.C.,” the advisers added.
DOGE Meme Coin Pumps 14% After Ramaswamy Exit
The move to push Ramaswamy out of DOGE was reportedly driven in part by his criticism of American culture. Last month, Ramaswamy posted on X that “Our American culture has venerated mediocrity over excellence for way too long.”

Ramaswamy’s exit seems to have been seen as a positive by the crypto community. Over the past 24 hours, meme coin Department Of Government Efficiency (DOGE) saw its price pump more than 14% to trade at $0.1547 as of 1:13 a.m. EST.
Vivek Ramaswamy Reportedly Will Run For Ohio Governor
“It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE,” Ramaswamy said in a Jan. 20 X post, before adding that he is “confident that Elon and team will succeed in streamlining government.”
It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE. I’m confident that Elon & team will succeed in streamlining government. I’ll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio. Most importantly, we’re all-in to help President Trump make America great again! 🇺🇸 https://t.co/f1YFZm8X13

The New York Times and CBS News both reported that Ramaswamy will run for governor of Ohio. ”I’Il have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio,” he said. He also reaffirmed his support for President Trump.
Ramaswamy also re-shared an X post from a parody account of him that said he was running for Ohio governor. The pro-crypto Republican commented on the post, stating that it was not “a bad idea.”
This comes as current Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s second and legally last term comes to an end in January 2027.
