Block Chain: Not Just A Fancy Word

Imagine if you and your friends all had a shared notebook together where you would write down everything you buy or sell.

Imagine that notebook is magical—it can’t be erased, changed without everyone knowing, or destroyed. This is essentially what a blockchain is, but in the digital space!

And what is blockchain, exactly?

Blockchain is a digital ledger (fancy term for a record book) that’s:

• Distributed: Duplicate everywhere (on different computers)
• Not centralised: Nobody — no person, no company — owns it
• Open: Everyone knows what is written
• Immutably: Add something, and that is very difficult, if not impossible, to change or delete
