What to Expect from Apple and A24’s Sam Bankman-Fried Biopic?

The biggest crypto exchange collapse, the FTX crash, is again in the limelight, as a Sam Bankman-Fried biopic is in the making. After the launch of the Sam-inspired book ‘Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon,’ right after the collapse, a book adaptation is in process to bring the writings into the picture. For this, Apple and A24 have collaborated and will explore the ups and downs of the FTX former founder and his work.

Why Sam Bankman-Fried Biopic?

As per Variety, Apple and A24 are co-developing and co-producing the Sam Bankman-Fried biopic, which is the adaption of the popular book Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon, written by Michael Lewis. The book became a best-seller after being published in October 2023.

The book covered the life experience of the FTX Founder, Sam Bankman, who was among the world’s youngest billionaires. He was seen as the math genius and the crypto’s Gatsby, who created one of the biggest crypto exchanges, catering to the trading needs of millions of users. He was climbing in popularity and wealth exponentially, but it all collapsed one day with the FTX crash. To this day, it is the worst industry experience for thousands of investors.

Sam Bankman is facing 25 years imprisonment for his role in the FTX crash. It happened after the company misused the investor’s money for personal investment, and failed to retrieve it on time. It led to exchange bankruptcy and strict legal action against Sam and many of his associates, including Alameda CEO Caroline Ellison, who had just begun his two-year imprisonment.

What To Expect From Sam Biopic About FTX Crash?

As mentioned above, Apple and A24 have come together for this  Michael Lewis book adaptation into a biopic. Back in September 2023, Apple paid $5M and bought Lewis’s book right even before its publication. Now, it is working on the Sam Bankman Fried biopic.

Lewis stuck to Sam for months, but she uncovered various aspects of his massive success and downfall. The Apple biography will focus on the same, it will disclose the story behind the rise and FTX’s fall. More importantly, the popular scriptwriter, Lena Dunham is working on this project. She is best known for her role in creating, directing, and starring in the HBO series Girls, which has won eight Emmy Award nominations and a Golden Globe.

The Sam Bankman-Fried biopic is already in process and promises to deliver the best insights from Sam’s world of cryptocurrency. It will mainly focus on his life around the FTX exchange.

Eight More Sam Bankman Projects Are in Production

Variety reports further confirmed the production of eight Sam Bankman Fried fraud-inspired projects, including Amazon’s eight-episode series. Interstingly, the AGBO company, run by the Russos brothers is producing this limited series. In this, David Weril, the Amazon Prime series Hunters, the creator will lead the plot writing and execution part.

The Hillary documentary director, Nanette Burstein, is also working on a similar project. Interestingly, many more industry leaders are working on the same. This demonstrates the big impact the FTX collapse has made on the crypto industry and the rest of the world. Even after two years of the FTX crash, the producers are flocking to reveal the uncovered stories. However, one certain thing is that each project, including Apple’s Sam Bankman-Fried biopic, will give a different interpretation and unknown facts about Sam Bankman’s life.
