TLDR
- X launched a Cashtag Partner Program that links stock and crypto tickers to five outside trading platforms
- Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini handle crypto trades, while Interactive Brokers and Moomoo cover stocks and ETFs
- Trades are completed on the partner’s app or website, not inside X itself
- Kraken says its integration covers nearly 2,500 assets across its exchange offerings
- The program is limited to US users for now, with no timeline announced for international expansion
X has expanded its Cashtag system in the United States. The update links stock, ETF and crypto pages to five outside trading platforms.
The change gives users a shorter path from a financial post to placing a trade. It builds on the Smart Cashtags feature X rolled out earlier in 2026.
The five launch partners are Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo. Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini handle crypto trades. Interactive Brokers and Moomoo cover stocks and ETFs.
How the Trading Flow Works
Users can search for a supported Cashtag or tap one inside a post. X then shows a live price chart along with related posts about that asset.
From there, a Trade option appears. Selecting it sends the user to one of the participating platforms to finish the order.
The account login, verification and order execution all happen on the partner’s site or app. X does not process the transaction itself.
Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai said Cashtags close the gap between a ticker on the timeline and the market itself. His comment describes the goal of cutting steps between viewing a post and reaching a trading platform.
Crypto and Stock Partners Confirm Details
Kraken confirmed it joined the US launch. The exchange said its Cashtag integration supports nearly 2,500 assets across its centralized and decentralized trading offerings.
Geographic restrictions and account eligibility still apply on Kraken’s side. Not every asset will be available to every user.
Interactive Brokers also confirmed its role in the rollout. New eligible US clients who open and fund an account through the Cashtag flow can receive a $100 credit under the company’s launch offer.
Moomoo describes itself as one of X’s first US-regulated brokerage partners. Its integration sends users to Moomoo pages with market data and trading access.
X named Coinbase and Gemini as its remaining crypto partners. The company has not published one list showing which assets each partner supports, so coverage can differ by platform.
The feature builds on Smart Cashtags, which tied tickers and crypto contract addresses to specific pages with charts and related posts. That rollout reached iPhone users in the US and Canada in April.
X previously said an early trading pilot drove an estimated $1 billion in global volume within days. The figure came from the company and has not been independently verified.
The April version used Wealthsimple for Canadian users. The September program introduces a separate group of partners for the US market.
The Cashtag program is separate from X Money, the platform’s payments product. Nothing in the announcement says users can fund trades using an X Money balance.
X also added a feature called Big Charts, offering larger interactive price charts for assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tesla and Coinbase. It is available on iOS and the web.
The Cashtag Partner Program currently applies only to US users. X has not announced a date for expanding the trading links to other countries or added new partners beyond the initial five.
Kraken said “more to come” when describing its involvement, but did not share a timeline or name additional partners.
