Zcash Price Extends Rally as Analyst Eyes $1,800 Next Target

TLDR:

  • Zcash Price continues its sharp advance as analyst Ali Charts identifies $1,800 as his first target while momentum stays elevated.
  • Nearly 2.4 million eligible ZEC participated in the NU7 vote, with 99.9% backing a reduction in target block times to 25 seconds.
  • Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang disclosed that the investment firm holds ZEC, adding another institutional element to the latest rally.
  • Technical momentum remains strong, although the 14-day RSI moved above 70 on September 17, showing increasingly stretched market conditions.

Zcash price extended its sharp September rally as the privacy-focused token moved toward fresh cycle highs. ZEC climbed above $1,400 on September 18 after gaining about 20% in the prior session. Analyst Ali Charts says the momentum remains strong and identified $1,800 as his first target. The move follows a major NU7 governance vote and fresh institutional interest from Paradigm.

Nearly 2.4 million eligible ZEC participated in the vote, which backed faster 25-second blocks. Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang also disclosed that the firm holds ZEC. Still, elevated momentum indicators and heavy exchange activity leave traders watching for a possible short-term pullback.

Zcash Price Gains Momentum as NU7 Vote Backs Faster Blocks

The latest rally coincides with Zcash holders approving several changes proposed for the NU7 upgrade. Nearly 2.4 million ZEC participated from roughly 3.6 million eligible coins. The vote used ZEC-weighted participation rather than counting individual holders.

Momentum remains strong, and price continues moving toward my first target at $1,800.

About 99.9% of participating ZEC backed reducing the target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds. The change would shorten expected confirmation times and could improve payment speed. Another 98.9% supported keeping Zcash’s existing Bitcoin-style halving schedule.

The vote does not immediately change the network. Developers still need to implement, test, and include approved features in the final upgrade. Holders also backed launching NU7 as soon as practical, with 99.3% supporting that approach.

Faster blocks could strengthen the network’s utility if implementation performs as planned. Zcash already uses shielded transactions that can conceal sender, receiver, and transaction amounts while preserving network verification. That privacy model remains central to the project’s market narrative.

Zcash price data showed ZEC reaching an intraday high near $1,488 on September 18 after closing the previous session around $1,337. The move follows a steep climb from levels near $50 a year earlier.

Zcash (ZEC) Price

Ali Charts said ZEC continues pushing higher and pointed to $1,800 as the next target he is monitoring. His outlook reflects price momentum rather than a guaranteed forecast. Other market participants have also cited the $1,500 to $2,000 area as a potential continuation zone if demand persists.

Paradigm Interest Grows as Technical Risks Stay Elevated

Institutional activity has added another catalyst to the Zcash price move. Paradigm co-founder Matt Huang disclosed that the crypto investment firm holds ZEC, without revealing the position size or purchase price. Paradigm also invested in Zcash Open Development Lab, which raised more than $25 million earlier in 2026.

That involvement gives the rally an institutional component, although it does not establish future demand. Zcash still faces regulatory uncertainty linked to privacy-focused cryptocurrencies and exchange access. Its optional shielded design allows private transfers while supporting selective disclosure tools, but regulatory treatment varies across jurisdictions.

Large traders have also increased exposure during the rally. One whale placed a roughly $5.4 million ZEC buy order below the market while holding a multimillion-dollar long position. Separate on-chain tracking showed a large short position exceeding 37,000 ZEC and carrying heavy unrealized losses.

Garrett Jin(@GarrettBullish), the largest on-chain $ZEC short, is now down over $26M!

He added more to his $ZEC short 11 hours ago and now holds a 37,760 $ZEC ($51.5M) short.

Technical conditions now show both strength and overheating risk. TradingView data placed the 14-day Relative Strength Index above 70. This threshold is overbought, although RSI alone does not confirm a reversal.

The Zcash price outlook therefore depends on whether buying demand can absorb profit-taking after the rapid advance. Faster transactions from NU7 could support utility, while institutional participation may deepen market interest. However, both catalysts remain tied to execution and broader risk appetite.

Exchange inflows and leveraged positioning can amplify volatility during sharp rallies. A sustained move toward Ali Charts’ $1,800 target would require continued demand after ZEC’s steep run. Failure to maintain momentum could instead produce consolidation as traders reduce leverage and lock in gains quickly.
