BCGAME defeats OG to advance in EWC Open Qualifier playoffs

BC.Game, the Counter-Strike 2 roster headlined by one of the most decorated players in FPS history, took down OG in a best-of-3 series at the Esports World Cup 2026 Open Qualifier on August 9. The win in the round of 32 punches BC.Game’s ticket to the playoff bracket and keeps alive their shot at reaching the main event of what has become one of the biggest esports gatherings on the planet.

For a team currently sitting at #62 in the HLTV world rankings, beating OG on LAN is the kind of result that suggests the ranking might not tell the full story.

How BC.Game got here

The OG series wasn’t BC.Game’s first test in the qualifier. The team had already dispatched Basement Boys 2-1 and swept 1win 2-0 to clear the group stage.

The squad’s lineup reads like an all-star experiment. Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev anchors the roster. Alongside him are electroNic, his former Na’Vi teammate, and Magisk, the Danish rifler who won a Major with Astralis. Rounding out the five are Senzu and mzinho.

BC.Game also captured the Elisa Esports BreakOut Series 1 title in early August, giving them momentum heading into this qualifier.

The OG rivalry continues

This wasn’t the first time BC.Game and OG have crossed paths. The two teams met previously in March 2026, establishing what’s becoming a recurring matchup in the competitive CS2 circuit.
