Dayot Upamecano reportedly scores first goal of the season for Bayern Munich

Dayot Upamecano has opened his account for the season at Bayern Munich, with the French defender finding the net as the Bavarian giants push forward in their 2026/27 campaign.

Upamecano’s goal tally across more than 180 appearances for Bayern Munich sits in the single digits, a modest collection assembled mostly through headers and close-range finishes from set pieces.

His first ever goal for the club came against Wolfsburg back in December 2021, not long after he completed his move from RB Leipzig. He added another in a marquee fixture against Borussia Dortmund in November 2023.

Bayern Munich’s 2026/27 season got underway with a less-than-ideal start in the DFL-Supercup, where they fell 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund on August 22. Nathaniel Brown scored Bayern’s lone goal in that match.

Pre-season friendlies, including a match against Heidenheim on August 18, saw goals from Michael Olise and others as the squad gradually assembled following a summer disrupted by the 2026 World Cup.

Upamecano was among the last wave of players to return to club duty, having represented France at the World Cup. The Bundesliga campaign proper kicked off around August 28 with a fixture against VfB Stuttgart.
