Evil Geniuses defeats KRÜ Esports 2-1 in lower bracket match at VCT Americas Stage 2

Evil Geniuses clawed their way through the lower bracket of VCT 2026 Americas Stage 2, taking down KRÜ Esports 2-1 in a best-of-three elimination match on August 23. It was the kind of series that looked like it might tip the other way early, only for EG to find a second gear when it mattered most.

KRÜ Esports came out strong on Lotus, taking the opening map and putting EG in the uncomfortable position of needing to win two straight to survive. For a team playing in Lower Round 3 of the Play-Ins, that’s not exactly where you want to be.

EG responded on Sunset, leveling the series at 1-1.

The decider came down to Summit, and Evil Geniuses closed it out to complete the reverse sweep.

The star of the show was dgzin, who racked up 61 kills across the three maps. That’s an average of just over 20 kills per map in a professional VALORANT series. He was named the series MVP.
