G2 Esports just punched their ticket to the FISSURE Playground #3 semi-finals with a clean 2-0 sweep over FURIA Esports. The September 11 playoff match in Suzhou, China, ended with G2 looking like the more composed squad across both maps, though the scorelines told two very different stories.
The first map, Ancient, went down to the wire at 16-14. The second map, Dust2, did not. G2 dismantled FURIA 13-3.
Two maps, two moods
G2’s roster of huNter-, NertZ, r1nkle, HeavyGod, and MATYS found their rhythm on Ancient and then carried it straight into Dust2. FURIA’s lineup, featuring veterans FalleN and KSCERATO alongside YEKINDAR, yuurih, and molodoy, simply couldn’t generate the same energy on the decider map.
The tournament at stake
FISSURE Playground #3 is a $1 million CS2 LAN event running from September 8 to 13, 2026, featuring 16 invited teams competing in a double-elimination format before transitioning to playoffs. The field includes Astralis, FaZe, The MongolZ, and other top-tier organizations all invited to Suzhou.
The double-elimination structure gives teams a safety net during the group stage, but once playoffs begin, it’s single-elimination territory.
FPG #3 sits in the calendar shortly after the Esports World Cup 2026, meaning rosters are battle-tested and presumably in peak form.
FURIA’s veteran core faces questions
FalleN, the Brazilian legend who has been competing at the highest level of Counter-Strike for over a decade, anchors a squad that blends experience with mechanical talent. YEKINDAR, the Latvian rifler known for his aggressive playstyle, adds an unpredictable element. KSCERATO and yuurih have long been considered two of the most talented Brazilian players outside of FalleN himself.
And yet, 13-3 on Dust2. Were FURIA’s map vetoes wrong? Did their Dust2 preparation fail to account for something specific in G2’s approach?
