Hansi Flick sets record for most wins by Barcelona manager in first 80 matches

Hansi Flick now owns a record that eluded Pep Guardiola, Johan Cruyff, and every other manager who has ever patrolled the Camp Nou touchline. With 63 wins in his first 80 La Liga matches as FC Barcelona boss, the German has officially logged more victories in that span than anyone in the club’s 125-year history.

The milestone landed after Barcelona’s 5-0 dismantling of Valencia on September 6, 2026. It pushed Flick past Luis Enrique, who managed 62 wins across his first 80 league outings, and Guardiola, who tallied 61.

A dominance that defies historical comparison

Under Flick, Barcelona has sat atop the La Liga table for 60 of his first 80 matchdays. That figure eclipses Johan Cruyff’s previous record of 59 weeks in first place, a mark the Dutchman accumulated over more than 300 matches.

The 2026-27 season has started with four consecutive victories and a goal difference of plus-15, which ranks as the third-best start in club history.

Two successive La Liga titles already sit in the trophy cabinet from the 2024-25 and 2025-26 campaigns. Flick’s debut season produced a domestic treble.

How Flick rebuilt the machine

Barcelona announced Flick’s hiring on May 29, 2024. His tenure at Bayern Munich had produced a Champions League title in 2020 but ended with a sacking after a difficult spell managing the German national team.

Flick’s system has leaned heavily on La Masia graduates, integrating young talent into a framework that prizes intensity off the ball as much as fluency on it.
