LG Electronics is teaming up with Arbitrum, Ethereum’s leading layer-2 scaling network, to build a blockchain network aimed at powering an advertising platform.
The move signals that LG is looking to bring blockchain rails into the connected TV advertising market, where its subsidiary LG Ad Solutions already operates across millions of smart TVs worldwide, managing cross-device advertising campaigns.
LG’s blockchain ambitions are not new
LG launched the LG Art Lab NFT marketplace back in 2022, built on the Hedera network, giving smart TV owners the ability to browse and purchase digital art directly from their living rooms.
The company also updated its corporate charter to explicitly include blockchain activities.
As an Ethereum layer-2 solution, Arbitrum processes transactions off the main Ethereum chain while inheriting its security guarantees, offering faster and cheaper transactions without sacrificing the trust that comes with Ethereum’s validator network.
Why blockchain and advertising make an awkward but logical pair
LG sits in a unique position here. The company manufactures the hardware (smart TVs), operates the advertising platform (LG Ad Solutions), and now appears to be building the blockchain infrastructure to connect them.
The connected TV advertising market has been growing rapidly as consumers shift away from traditional cable. LG Ad Solutions has been expanding its partnerships in this space, including a collaboration with Aarki in early 2026 focused on gaming-specific performance solutions for connected TV advertising.
What this means for investors
Most Arbitrum activity today comes from DeFi protocols and crypto-native applications. A Fortune 500 company deploying enterprise ad-tech infrastructure on the network would represent a genuinely new use case.
Investors should watch for concrete technical milestones: testnet launches, developer documentation, advertiser onboarding timelines, and actual on-chain activity.
