MiTAC unveils liquid-cooled 52U rack packing 96 AMD GPUs into a single unit

MiTAC Computing Technology Corp. debuted a 52U liquid-cooled rack at COMPUTEX 2026 in Taipei that crams 96 AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs into a single unit, a density play that the company says represents a 50% improvement over standard AI rack configurations.

The rack integrates twelve of MiTAC’s G4826Z5 servers, each loaded with eight AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs. Twelve times eight equals 96 GPUs inside a single 52U enclosure. For context, a standard server rack is 42U tall.

MiTAC partnered with Nidec for cooling distribution units capable of handling thermal loads up to 200 kW. Networking gets handled by Broadcom’s Tomahawk 5 switches, which support 800 Gbps connectivity. Servers, networking, and cooling are all integrated as a turnkey solution.

MiTAC also highlighted a related server, the G8825Z5, which offers throttling-free operation and supports 50% more tokens at high inlet temperatures. MiTAC also made a notable commitment to open-source firmware, enabling bare-metal control for optimizing AI workload management.

The rack targets AI training, inference, retrieval-augmented generation, and high-performance computing. MiTAC unveiled the rack at COMPUTEX 2026, which ran from June 2 through June 5 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, at Booth R0504 in Hall 2.
