Natus Vincere secures 13-11 victory over G2, one win from Lanxess Arena

Natus Vincere just moved one step closer to the biggest stage in Counter-Strike. The Ukrainian organization took down G2 Esports 13-11 on the opening map of their best-of-3 series at the IEM Cologne Major 2026, needing just one more map win to punch their ticket to the Lanxess Arena playoffs.

The match kicked off around 19:00 CEST on June 15, 2026, during the Swiss-system stage of the tournament. In a Swiss system, teams don’t play in traditional brackets. Instead, they’re matched against opponents with similar records, meaning the deeper you go, the harder your opponents get.

G2 entered the matchup ranked roughly 11th to 13th in the major CS2 rankings. NaVi now sits one map win away from qualifying for the playoff stage, which takes place from June 18-21 at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany.

The stakes at Lanxess Arena

The IEM Cologne Major prize pool exceeds $1.25 million, and the event is organized by ESL under the Intel Extreme Masters banner. The Lanxess Arena can accommodate over 18,000 fans, and Major events in Cologne have historically drawn some of the largest audiences in competitive Counter-Strike history.

NaVi and G2: a rivalry with recent history

NaVi and G2 faced off earlier in the year during ESL Pro League Season 23, adding another chapter to a rivalry that has produced memorable moments across multiple tournament cycles.

What to watch as the series continues

If NaVi closes out the series on the second map, they’ll have time to rest and prepare for their playoff opponents. If G2 forces a third map, the dynamic shifts completely. For fans of competitive CS2, the playoff stage runs June 18-21 in Cologne, with NaVi playing for a share of the $1.25 million-plus prize pool in front of one of the largest live audiences in esports.
