QuickSwap governance vote seeks to funnel 80% of revenue into expansion for 90 days

QuickSwap is asking its token holders to approve a pretty dramatic reshuffling of the money. The decentralized exchange, which operates across multiple EVM chains including Polygon and Base, has put forward a Snapshot governance vote that would temporarily redirect 80% of protocol revenue toward expansion efforts, up from the current 20% that flows to the QuickSwap DAO.

The vote is live now and closes on August 10, 2026, at 12:00 PM UTC. If approved, the new revenue split would last approximately 90 days before reverting to its original structure.

What the proposal actually changes

Right now, the QuickSwap DAO retains 20% of applicable protocol revenue. The proposal would flip that ratio on its head, pushing 80% of revenue toward expansion initiatives for the roughly 90-day window.

The mechanics here are straightforward. $QUICK holders vote through Snapshot, the off-chain governance tool that’s become standard across DeFi. No gas fees, no on-chain complexity. Just connect your wallet and pick a side.

Community members have raised concerns about whether “temporary” actually means temporary. The worry is familiar to anyone who’s watched a government introduce a “temporary” tax. Once revenue flows in a new direction, there can be institutional pressure to keep it that way.

A community that isn’t shy about big moves

This isn’t QuickSwap’s first aggressive governance play. In October 2024, QuickSwap launched what it called the “Trial of Fire” program, which directed 100% of certain revenue streams toward $QUICK buybacks and burns.

Then in July 2026, a governance vote approved the burn of 20 million QUICK tokens, roughly 2% of the total supply. The vote wasn’t exactly contested: approximately 5.8 million votes landed in favor, with just 26 votes against.

QuickSwap has also expanded to full deployment on Base, Coinbase’s layer-2 network, and integrated features like Orbs perpetuals trading through previous governance decisions.

Why this matters for DeFi investors

The temporary nature of the proposal is both its strongest selling point and its biggest vulnerability. Supporters argue that 90 days is long enough to fund meaningful expansion but short enough to limit downside. Skeptics counter that governance proposals have a way of getting extended, especially if the growth metrics look promising midway through.

The governance participation rates will be worth watching closely. The July token burn attracted nearly 5.8 million votes in favor. If this revenue reallocation vote draws similar numbers, it would signal that QuickSwap’s governance mechanism is functioning as intended.
