Wrexham AFC is reportedly attempting to land Henrik Falchener from Viking FK, with the Welsh club said to have already seen two bids turned down for the 23-year-old Norwegian centre-back. The latest offer is reportedly valued at €9.5 million, a significant premium over Falchener’s estimated market value of around €6 million.
Falchener joined Viking FK from Egersund in January 2025 on a contract that runs through December 31, 2029. Across roughly 39 appearances for Viking, he’s found the net 8 times, a striking output for a centre-back playing in Norway’s Eliteserien.
The reported €9.5 million offer already sits roughly 58% above his estimated market value, and Viking apparently still said no.
Wrexham has been busy this transfer window as the club prepares for another season in the English Championship. The most notable confirmed signing so far has been full-back Danny Imray, brought in from Crystal Palace for a fee reported to be around £5 million (approximately €6.6 million).
Reynolds and McElhenney took over Wrexham in 2020 when the club was in the fifth tier of English football. Two promotions later, Wrexham is competing in the Championship, just one step below the Premier League.
Viking’s contractual position gives the Norwegian club enormous power in negotiations. When you have a player locked up until the end of 2029, you can afford to be stubborn.
