What happened
Interactive Brokers, which manages more than $903 billion in client assets, launched Ethereum staking on October 13. The feature is available to eligible Interactive Brokers LLC clients through the broker's Client Portal.
Zerohash provides the staking infrastructure while clients submit requests and track activity through IBKR's platform. Customers can use the Staking Dashboard to request staking or unstaking and monitor pending activity. Earned rewards are added to the staked crypto balance and can compound while the position remains staked.
Chief executive Milan Galik compared the staking launch to Interactive Brokers' existing Stock Yield Enhancement Program, which allows clients to receive additional income on shares they own. Galik stated the firm wanted clients to earn more from the assets they hold.

Why it matters
The staking rollout extends Interactive Brokers' crypto services, which already include wallet transfers, stablecoin funding, Coinbase Derivatives futures trading and access to prediction markets through Kalshi, CME and ForecastEx. The platform supports trading in 20 digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Chainlink, Aave and Dogecoin.
Interactive Brokers serves over 5 million clients worldwide and is a member of the S&P 500, giving U.S. equity investors exposure to the brokerage through individual shares and index funds. The platform allows customers to manage crypto holdings alongside traditional stocks, options and futures in a single account.
The staking service complements earlier crypto additions. In March, the brokerage added wallet transfer functionality allowing eligible clients to move Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana from external wallets into IBKR-linked accounts without selling their holdings.
