The purchase pushed the company's holdings to 847,666 BTC, the firm said in a Sept. 28 Form 8-K. Michael Saylor, the co-founder and former CEO, had hinted at the buy on X a day earlier.

It is the second weekly purchase in a row. The prior week's buy covered 950 BTC, acquired between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20 for about $75.7 million at an average price of $79,670. CryptoPotato reported that Strategy had taken a three-week pause from the end of August until the previous Monday.

Strategy paid for the bitcoin partly with equity. It sold 1,469,165 MSTR common shares for $246.2 million in net proceeds. Of that total, $142.7 million funded bitcoin purchases and $103.5 million went toward repurchasing STRC, its variable-rate preferred stock.
