DriveWealth taps Ripple's RLUSD for client funding, Europe first
DriveWealth will use Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin to settle client funds, starting in Europe, with U.S. expansion planned but no timeline.
Key takeaways
- Europe comes first. DriveWealth will start RLUSD settlement in Europe and intends to bring it to the U.S. with no timeline given.
- More than 100 partners. DriveWealth powers investing experiences for more than 100 partners globally, giving the integration a wide distribution channel.
- Swell talk on Oct. 28. Executives from both companies are scheduled to discuss the partnership at Ripple's Swell conference in New York on Oct. 28.
What happened
DriveWealth will use Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin to settle client funds, starting in Europe, the two firms said. The companies announced the arrangement on Oct. 14. DriveWealth runs the brokerage plumbing behind investing products offered by more than 100 partners worldwide, and RLUSD runs on the XRP Ledger.
Clients can add money to and manage collateral accounts with stablecoins that turn into cash almost immediately instead of waiting on a bank wire, and the setup uses Ripple's mint-and-burn tools. DriveWealth is also adding Ripple Payments to take in cross-border funds from global partners and is working with Ripple on digital asset custody in Europe, with other regions to come later. Financing equity positions through Ripple Prime's Delta One business is only under discussion.
"We've already enabled 24/5 trading, now we need the funding to match, so clients can move with the markets instead of waiting for them," said Naureen Hassan, DriveWealth's CEO. Jack McDonald, Ripple's SVP of Stablecoins, said DriveWealth first brought Ripple a narrow cross-border settlement problem and that it soon became clear there was room to do much more together.

Why it matters
U.S. stock trades settle one business day after execution, known as T+1, while cross-border dollars can take longer to arrive. That gap ties up capital for brokers and the apps built on them, which is the timing problem the two firms say the tie-up addresses.
Because DriveWealth sits behind products used by more than 100 partners, the integration could reach past a single brokerage. Even so, that network is not proof of broad RLUSD adoption, and the companies gave no product launch date, transaction target or confirmed partner rollout.
What the data shows
RLUSD is the Ripple stablecoin that runs on the XRP Ledger, and it traded at $1 on Oct.
CoinGecko put RLUSD market capitalisation at $2,401,664,584 and 24-hour volume at $221,969,053. DeFiLlama put circulating supply at 2,401,837,669.6044173, and the price was flat from the last recorded observation on 2026-10-13 to the last recorded observation on 2026-10-15.
Background
The deal adds to a run of RLUSD integrations. Last November, Mastercard teamed up with Ripple and Gemini to test settling card payments in RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, and Ripple said it holds more than 85 licenses globally.
What is still unclear
- No financial terms, transaction volumes or go-live date were disclosed in the announcement.
- The companies did not say which partners will use the integration, whether any are already live, or whether every partner will get it.
- DriveWealth intends to bring stablecoin settlement to the U.S. as well, but gave no timeline for that step.
