Ripple adds 24/7 returns and AI automation to treasury platform
Eligible corporate customers can earn on RLUSD held in a Ripple wallet, while new GSmart settings range from manual to fully autonomous workflows.
Key takeaways
- Round-the-clock returns. RLUSD held in a Ripple wallet can qualify for 24/7 Returns if program requirements are met, with the feature aimed at operating cash outside normal banking hours.
- Three automation levels. Customers can choose manual, semi-autonomous or fully autonomous settings for individual treasury workflows, with policy checks and human escalation for unfamiliar cases.
- Details still missing. Ripple has not published return rates, full eligibility criteria or a wider rollout timeline for the returns feature.
What happened
Ripple introduced 24/7 Returns and a new set of AI automation tools for Ripple Treasury, giving eligible corporate customers a way to earn on qualifying digital assets held in a Ripple wallet. Crypto.news reported the capabilities were announced on Oct. 26, while CoinGape said they were presented at Swell 2026. RLUSD, Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin, is explicitly included in the returns program when eligibility requirements are met. Ripple describes the feature as a way to put operating cash to work overnight, on weekends and during holidays, and says businesses do not have to manage the underlying digital asset transactions themselves.
The AI component is an orchestration layer that connects treasury operations with GSmart, Ripple's existing AI toolset. It coordinates cash positioning, forecasting, reconciliation and payments. Customers can choose among three levels of autonomy for each workflow: manual, where agents prepare actions but wait for approval; semi-autonomous, where agents act inside company rules and notify users; and fully autonomous, where a workflow runs from start to finish and the customer decides when to review it. Policy checks apply at every level, and agents escalate unfamiliar situations to a person. Ripple's example is an overnight sweep that can run automatically while a foreign-exchange hedge still needs approval.
Ripple named American Airlines, Trax, Christian Louboutin, Subway, Adecco and Kingfisher in the announcement. Trax CEO Blake Tablak said the partnership with Ripple Treasury was just getting started and already returning value. Renaat Ver Eecke, senior vice president of Ripple Treasury, said the way businesses move money is changing and treasury needs to evolve with it. According to Ripple's product page, digital assets remain optional: companies can choose fiat or digital infrastructure for each task and keep their existing banking arrangements.

Why it matters
The launch ties several parts of Ripple's corporate offering together: treasury software, payments, liquidity management, stablecoins and custody. It also moves GSmart beyond the approval-only model Ripple described in September, when treasury teams retained authority over every financial action. Configurable autonomy could make the platform more useful for routine tasks, while 24/7 Returns gives RLUSD another role in corporate cash workflows. CoinGape cited the 2026 AFP Liquidity Survey to frame the demand: 46% of organizations increased their U.S. cash balances, and 86% of treasury professionals said they would choose real-time money market funds if their investment policies allowed. Ripple's feature targets that gap, though access remains conditional and the company has not published return rates.
What the data shows
Ripple reported in September that 60% of eligible customers had enabled Risk Insights and 44% used Forecast Insights. Its product page says liquidity management, cash forecasting and intercompany netting can each go live within 90 days. The 2026 AFP Liquidity Survey, cited by CoinGape, found that 46% of organizations increased their U.S. cash balances and 86% of treasury professionals would opt for real-time money market funds if policy permitted. Ripple has not disclosed return rates for 24/7 Returns or a broader availability schedule.
Background
Ripple's treasury business came through its $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury, announced in October 2025. Chicago-based GTreasury had more than four decades of treasury experience and said it served over 1,000 customers in 160 countries. Its software covered cash visibility, forecasting, payments, financial risk, debt and investments, with links to banks and enterprise resource planning systems. The acquisition announcement also pointed to access to the global repurchase agreement market through prime broker Hidden Road. In September 2026, Ripple stablecoin chief Jack McDonald described the treasury business as a potential distribution channel for RLUSD to corporate treasurers and CFOs, while noting it was not a commitment by those businesses to settle a specific amount in RLUSD. Ripple's September GSmart rollout introduced governed AI tools that separated deterministic financial calculations from AI-generated explanations; Knowledge Studio held company policies, and Ask GSmart let users query treasury data in ordinary language.
What is still unclear
Several details remain open. Ripple has not published the return rates, the full eligibility criteria or a wider rollout timeline for 24/7 Returns. It is also not clear how fully autonomous workflows fit with the September description that treasury teams kept authority over every financial action; the current product page offers configurable autonomy, including a mode that runs a workflow end to end. The reports also distinguish RLUSD's explicit role in the returns feature from XRP, which appears in the release's general company overview without a specified function in the program.
What to watch
Corporate treasury teams and Ripple's partners will be watching for program terms, adoption of the new autonomy settings and further RLUSD integrations. CoinGape noted that the treasury expansion followed Cross River Bank's agreement to integrate RLUSD into its banking infrastructure. Ripple's Oct. 14 partnership with DriveWealth separately calls for RLUSD settlement on the XRP Ledger in Europe, with a U.S. expansion planned, alongside custody and cross-border payment work. Ripple says it plans to connect treasury management, custody, stablecoins and payments across traditional and digital financial systems; the pace of that connection will determine how much of the new feature set reaches ordinary corporate cash workflows.
