Compare the saved total value locked for chains in the DefiLlama dataset. The table orders up to 100 chains by recorded TVL in US dollars.
What the ranking measures
Total value locked, or TVL, is a provider-defined estimate of the assets counted in supported decentralized-finance protocols. A chain's figure depends on the protocols covered and the treatment of the assets involved. It is different from the chain's token market capitalization, transaction count, revenue or user count.
For example, a chain with $2 billion in recorded TVL appears above a chain with $500 million in the same snapshot. The comparison describes counted asset value. It does not show whether those assets can all be withdrawn at that price or whether the protocols are safe to use.
Compare snapshots with care
TVL can rise because asset prices increase even when users have not added tokens. It can fall after withdrawals, price declines, coverage changes or a methodological revision. A table of levels alone does not identify the cause of a change.
The last updated time records when our shared snapshot was retrieved. The source endpoint does not attach an individual measurement time to each chain. The last successful snapshot remains visible when a replacement cannot be validated. Follow DefiLlama's source methodology and the relevant protocol documentation when you need to investigate what is counted.
Limits of these figures
- A larger TVL does not establish better returns, decentralization or security.
- Provider coverage and overlapping asset representations affect comparisons and totals.
