Compare a 50/50 full-range constant-product liquidity position with holding its starting assets. Enter one asset's initial and final price in the other asset.
How the calculation works
Relative price ratio r = final price ÷ initial price. LP return difference versus holding = 2 × √r ÷ (1 + r) - 1.
Worked example
Example: when the relative asset price doubles, this pool model ends about 5.719096% below holding the initial assets, before fees and incentives.
How to use the result
Both prices must express the same token in the same other token. If both assets change in fiat terms, use their relative ratio rather than only one fiat price.
The signed result is negative when the modelled pool underperforms holding. Loss magnitude shows that gap as a positive percentage.
What this result leaves out
- Only 50/50 full-range constant-product pools. Concentrated liquidity, other weights and stable-swap curves need different models.
- Trading fees, incentives, gas, taxes and protocol risks are excluded.
