See the exposure controlled by an entered margin and leverage. Test a price move for a linear long or short position before fees and funding.
How the calculation works
Notional = margin × leverage. Quantity = notional ÷ entry. Gross P/L = direction × quantity × (exit - entry). Gross return on margin = P/L ÷ entered margin.
Worked example
Example: 1,000 margin at 5 times leverage controls 5,000 notional, or 50 tokens at an entry of 100. A long exit at 110 produces 500 gross profit before costs.
How to use the result
The same token quantity has the same gross price P/L regardless of how much margin funds it. A smaller margin makes that P/L a larger percentage of margin.
Mathematical remaining equity is entered margin plus gross P/L. A venue may liquidate the trade earlier than the chosen scenario exit.
What this result leaves out
- No liquidation price is calculated. Maintenance tiers, cross-margin assets, account protections, fees and funding are excluded.
- Negative mathematical equity is not a statement of your actual account liability.
